EMDR Psychotherapy
In EMDR Psychotherapy sessions, we will explore who you are today and what you are hoping to change in the present that seems to be stuck or creating problems in your life. Together, we will look at your past to better understand what may be unresolved influencing the current problem. EMDR Psychotherapy is different from traditional talk-therapy in that we don’t just focus on the here-and-now. We will use the present-symptoms (anxiety, depression, panic, anger) to help us access the root-cause experiences fueling the issue.
In our initial sessions we’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and gather your personal history. We will identify primary problems you want to target in treatment and build a treatment plan designed to help you meet your personal goals.
Sessions thereafter will be fluid, each session meeting you where you’re at and supporting you in managing relevant challenges while remaining rooted in your goals.
Developing insight into to your story
It can be intimidating to start therapy. Perhaps this is your first time seeking therapeutic support, or maybe you’ve tried therapy before and had a bad experience. I understand that going to see a therapist can be a vulnerable experience and it’s my goal to make this space feel warm and inviting.
I strive to approach sessions in a manner that supports my clients feeling like they can be just who they are without any fear of judgement. I also understand that it takes time to build that trust with a therapist and I make it a primary goal to build trust in the therapeutic relationship first and foremost.
Using an integrative approach to care, my work tends to the emotional, cognitive, physical, and faith-based. This is done by using a range of modalities, most predominantly, Eye Movement Desenitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I will also use other techniques in our sessions together, such as, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Faith-Based Counseling from a Christian perspective for those interested in a faith-based approach to their treatment.
